In order to know how well your students learned what you wanted them to learn, you must assess their learning. Assessments can occur during instruction through formative assessment methods or at the end of instruction with summative assessments This module looks at the difference between formative and summative assessments and explains how to select appropriate assessments that align to learning objectives.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this online activity, learners will be able to:

1) Explain the difference between formative assessment and summative assessment (evaluation).
2) Identify the assessment that best matches a given learning objective.
